Book Summary
Normal, Illinois is what the name says, normal. Nothing much
exciting happens there to Brendan Brundidge, and his brother
Richard, and Richard’s friend, Mark.
One overcast day, a mysterious carnival arrives in town, and the
boys go to investigate that night.
The boys see gruesome, scary and unusual displays in the dark
carnival tents, and barely escape a scary man with an eye patch
and his huge watchdog.
When the boys arrive home, they learn that a miniature T-Rex
dinosaur has stowed away in Brendan’s bag, and the adventures
begin.
The children have to escape the people chasing the dinosaur;
deal with his special abilities at the same time as they try to
convince their parents and the police that something is going on.
The children embark on a scary and dangerous train ride as a
last effort to help the dinosaur and escape the man that chases
him.

Book Excerpt
Brendan struggles to crawl on his back away from the dog, but the dog keeps him
pinned, and snaps his jaws at Brendan’s face.
The dog’s first bite misses his head completely, the second just catches his hair,
and a third catches and tears his shirt. Brendan continues to struggle in a panic,
and the dog tries to bite again.
Suddenly Rex jumps onto the dog’s back. Rex is a snarling ferocious image of
himself, and digs his claws into the dog’s back. The dog howls and snaps at Rex.
The two wrestle and tumble through the dirt as Brendan looks on rubbing his
shoulder. His eyes are filled with tears, and blood trickles from his shoulder.
.... He stands at the plate feet planted in the batter's box. The hot sun pounds down on his face as sweat drips off. He looks at his coach for the sign and taps the plate. The pitcher winds and throws. The ball tumbles end over end toward the plate. The batter swings and turns as the ball heads towards the plate.....
